Nurse Quality

Grade: A

On top of being a first rate nursing home overall, this nursing home also excelled in the area of nursing, where it received an A. Few nursing homes performed better in this category. Our nursing grade considers many subcategories. The most heavily weighted one is the quantity of hours nurses spend with patients. This particular nursing home provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed several nursing quality measures and this nursing home excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any place the nation in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can many times be avoided by offering better nursing care, such as by having a system of turning a resident at least once a day.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A

This nursing home also excelled in the area of short-term care, where it received a score of A. Not many facilities received a better grade in this category. With our short-term care score, we strive to craft a fair barometer for rehabilitation services. In this process, we analyze a nursing home's scope of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as respiratory therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not every nursing home employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, according to the information this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Lastly, we considered the number of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 6.2 percent of this facility's patients returned home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

This facility was given a strong long-term care grade as well. We awarded it one of our higher grades in that area with a score of B+. Facilities that excel in long-term care typically provide residents with closer supervision and stay on top of routine medical care. One of the statistics we considered after nursing hours was vaccines. This facility provided the pneumonia vaccination to 97.71574 percent of its patients. This is a proven method to avoid negative health outcomes for the nursing home population. Finally, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had only 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Facility Inspections

Grade: B-plus

Finishing off its excellent profile, this nursing home also performed well in the area of inspections, which is based on the nursing home's recent government inspection reports. In fact, we gave it a grade of B+ for that category, which is one of our higher grades. Inspection grades weigh a host of factors found on a nursing home's inspection report. One of the most important criteria we rely on is the number and severity of deficiencies. Nursing homes with better grades in this area generally have very few of these severe deficiencies. It does not look like we were able to find deficiency counts for this nursing home. We wish we had more data for this nursing home. Without having complete deficiency related data, it was a challenge to grade this facility in this category.
