Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

One of the reasons this turned out to be a great nursing home is it received an A+ in our inspections category. This is just about as good as it gets in this category. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in computing our inspection grades. One of those factors is deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of these deficiencies is arguably more meaningful than the number of deficiencies, as some of these can be relatively minor. Fortunately, although this place had a few minor dings on its inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones labeled as categories G through L. This means that the inspectors did not consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. The fact that the deficiencies were relatively minor made us feel better about this inspection report.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A-plus

We also wanted to emphasize the fact that this facility excelled in our nursing rating. We awarded them an impressive grade of A+ in this category. Nursing scores are primarily associated with a facility's nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This nursing home performed very well in the area of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

This nursing home also received a fine short-term care score. This actually is this facility's third strongest category grade. In that area, we awarded this facility a score of A-. In determining these short-term care scores, we analyze the nursing home's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses, occupational therapists, physical therapists and other types of skilled professionals. The goal is to formulate a measure for sizing up the rehabilitation services of nursing homes. Fortunately, it appear that this facility employs registered nurses. Not every facility employs these types of nurses. However, according to the data this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The last measure we assessed in this category is the number of patients that were able to return home from the facility. We found that 5.4 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home as opposed to remaining at the nursing home on a permanent basis.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

The fourth area we assessed is long-term care, where this facility was given a B+. This finished off a very favorable report card. Only a select few facilities earned a B+ or higher in in each area we assessed. When facilities receive this kind of grade in long-term care it is usually a good sign for patient care and suggests that the nursing home is well-staffed with nurses and aids. Once we looked at the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we then analyzed the nursing home's vaccination record. This facility vaccinated 94.17476 percent of its residents against pneumonia. Vaccines are vital to keeping residents healthy. Lastly, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
