Facility Inspections

Grade: A

We want to point out that this facility outperformed its overall score in the category of inspections. In fact, it received an excellent government inspection report this year. As a result, it received one of our highest scores in this category with an A. Our inspection ratings are based on pieces of information located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Nursing homes that excel in this area tend to have few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these nursing homes generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. This nursing home was hit with 5 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none of the deficiencies were considered severe. This means that the inspectors didn't deem any of these deficiencies to pose an imminent threat to resident safety or health. A few minor deficiencies shouldn't stop you from considering a nursing home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-minus

This nursing home's nursing grade appears to be one of its better features. The facility received a grade of B- in this category. In determining our nursing ratings, we factor in both the number of hours nurses spend with residents and the training levels of those nurses. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a lower figure than we were hoping for. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this facility surprisingly excelled in some of the quality measures we assessed. It performed well when it comes to avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. Many consider these areas to be measures of the quality of nursing care. In some cases, the quality of nursing care is as important as the quantity of hours of care provided.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: D

Sadly, this facility's next best category was short-term care. However, with a D in this area, it still performed somewhat badly. Short-term care grades are typically employed to judge a nursing home's rehabilitation services In order to offer good rehabilitation services, facilities generally need to offer better levels of highly skilled nursing. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists and other highly skilled individuals. With a score of this caliber in this area, we were not shocked to find that this facility was well below average in several staffing figures we focus on. The facility offered far fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most other facilities. The final measure we assessed in this area is the number of patients who returned home from the facility. This nursing home struggled quite a bit in this metric as well, with just 4.9 percent of its residents returning home. This was well below the national average.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: D

The next area we graded was long-term care, proved to be this facility's worst category. We gave this nursing home a D in that area. When facilities receive this type of score in long-term care it is a bad sign for resident care and it may indicate that the place is not as well-staffed with nurses and aids. One of the criteria we considered on top of nurse's aid hours is vaccines. This facility provided the pneumonia vaccination to 91.20879 percent of its residents. Surprisingly, this place was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this facility had less hospitalizations than the majority of nursing homes. This is its best score in this category.
