Facility Inspections

Grade: A

This nursing home received a quality overall grade as described above, but we especially want to emphasize its excellent government inspections in recent years. We gave them an A in this category. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in determining our inspection grades. One of those factors is health deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of deficiencies is usually more meaningful than the number of deficiencies, as some deficiencies can be quite insignificant. Although this place had some deficiencies on its inspection report, none were serious based on CMS' scale. A few minor dings aren't the end of the world.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B

This nursing home received a favorable short-term care score as well. We gave it one of our better grades in that area with a score of B. In forming our short-term care ratings, we assess the nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, speech therapists, physical therapists and other types of therapists. The goal is to create a measure for sizing up the rehabilitation services of different nursing homes. Unfortunately, we were not able to track down registered nurse or physical therapy staffing data for this facility. The last metric we assessed in this category is the number of residents who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We discovered that 5 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

This facility was awarded its third highest category grade in the area of long-term care. We awarded this facility a B- in this category, which is a decent score. Our long-term care grades are more important for individuals requiring more traditional services associated with personal care. Once we looked at the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we turned to the nursing home's vaccination data. This facility vaccinated 91.530945 percent of its residents for pneumonia, which is a bit less than we anticipated but still a respectable percentage. Nevertheless, this facility excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Nurse Quality

Grade: C

The next category we rated was nursing. We gave it a grade of C in that area. This is a perfectly acceptable grade in this category. In determining our nursing grades, we analyze both staffing levels and the skill levels of the nurses. This nursing home averages just 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low figure. Lastly, our nursing ratings also consider some quality-focused measures. We look at the percentage of patients who suffered pressure ulcers and major falls. Sometimes these statistics are measures of the quality of nursing care, since better care can reduce these issues.
