Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

On top of performing well in its overall grade, this facility performed at an even higher level in the area of inspections. In fact, it received a nearly flawless inspection report this year. As a result, it received one of our highest grades in that category with a score of A+. Inspection grades weigh several factors included in a facility's inspection reports. One key criteria we rely on is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Places with higher scores in this category typically have very few of these severe deficiencies. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

This facility also received a favorable long-term care grade. Indeed, we gave it an above average score of B+ in this area. Long-term care grades in this range generally require both 24/7 care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine healthcare services. After considering the quantity of care provided by nurses, we next considered the facility's vaccination data. This nursing home vaccinated 80.15267 percent of its residents for pneumonia. While its vaccination rate was a bit lower than we hoped for, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: C

This nursing home's next most favorable category was short-term care. In that category, we awarded this nursing home a C. Short-term care ratings are crucial for people seeking rehabilitation. Rehabilitation typically requires additional highly-skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing means a wide scope of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not every facility employs these types of nurses. However, based on the information they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Finally, we considered the number of patients that who were able to eventually return home from this facility. We found that 4.5 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was quite a bit below the national average.

Nurse Quality

Grade: C

Turning to the final category, this facility received a grade of C in nursing, which we consider to be a respectable rating. There are a variety of subcategories included in this area. Most of the data points relate to levels of nurse staffing. This facility averages 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day, which is a very low figure. Finally, we also factored some quality measures into our nursing grades. This nursing home was relatively weak in a few of the major areas we look at, with below average scores for minimizing its patients' pressure ulcers and major falls. These areas are often reliable indicators of the quality of nursing care available.
