Facility Inspections

Grade: B-minus

While we graded this facility incredibly poorly overall, it received a fairly respectable inspection report this year. As a result, it received a decent grade in that category with a score of B-. These inspection ratings weigh several factors, including deficiencies, substantiated complaints and federal fines. You can find more information about each of these issues by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. While this facility had a few deficiencies on its inspection report, none of them were severe based on CMS' deficiency scale. Finally, this facility was cited by CMS for possible abuse or neglect. We would not recommend this facility under any circumstance.

Nurse Quality

Grade: C

Remarkably, we awarded this nursing home a grade of C for our nursing rating, which isn't a bad grade. Nursing grades are primarily based on a nursing home's nurse staffing. This facility provided just 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This figure is far below the national average. Finally, while this nursing home got dinged a bit for its nursing hours, it excelled in some of our quality measures. With less than five percent of its residents experiencing pressure ulcers, it performed well in this area.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: D

Unfortunately, this facility's third best category is short-term care. As it turns out, with a D in this area, it still fared somewhat poorly. In our short-term care score, we try to forge a fair barometer for rehabilitation services. In doing so, we analyze the nursing home's scope of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as occupational therapy. Not surprisingly, we discovered that this facility offers far less registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than a typical nursing home. Lastly, we looked at the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. This definitely was not a strength for this facility. We found that just 4.7 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home. At most nursing homes, around half of their residents are able to return home so this is well below average.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: D

The next category we looked at is long-term care, which was a weak spot for this nursing home. We gave this nursing home a D for the area of long-term care. For prospective patients looking for a permanent place to live rather than rehabilitation, long-term care is an important category. On top of considering the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility provided the vaccine to 98.2353 percent of its residents, which is better than the majority of nursing homes. Surprisingly, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this nursing home had less hospitalizations than most nursing homes. Unfortunately, a few of its other scores in this category weren't as favorable as these.
