Facility Inspections

Grade: A

In addition to receiving a strong overall grade, this nursing home fared even better in our inspections category which is based on the facility's recent government inspection reports. We awarded it an A for this category, which is one of our best grades. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in computing these inspection grades. One critical factor is health deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of the deficiencies is arguably more important than the number of deficiencies, as some are quite minor. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

This nursing home was given impressive scores in the area of long-term care as well. Indeed, it received one of our most dominant grades in that area with a area of A-. Nursing homes that do well in this category tend to provide residents with more supervision and stay on top of routine medical care. In addition to assessing the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility provided the vaccine to 100 percent of its residents, which is significantly higher than the average nursing home. Lastly, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

This nursing home was given its next best category score in the category of short-term care. We gave this nursing home a B- in this area, which is an acceptable score. Short-term care grades are often used to judge a nursing home's rehabilitation services In order to have high-end rehabilitation services, facilities generally need to offer higher levels of highly skilled nursing services. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists and other licensed professionals. We weren't able to find information on registered nurse or physical therapy staffing for this nursing home. The last item we assessed in this category is the percentage of residents who were able to leave the nursing home and return home. We discovered that just 5.1 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home, which is below average.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-minus

The last area we rated is nursing. This nursing home was awarded an impressive nursing score in our assessment, with a grade of B-. While this wasn't as strong as several of its other scores, this remains a decent score for that area. The nursing rating weighs many components, many of which are tied to quantities of nurse staffing. This facility provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient on a daily basis. This is a low total compared with most other nursing homes. Finally, although this nursing home got dinged a bit for nursing hours per resident, it actually excelled in a few of our quality measures. With fewer than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it did very well in this subcategory.
