Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

On top of receiving a strong overall score, this facility also received an A+ inspection rating. This grade is based on the facility's recent government inspections. An A+ in this category is one of the best complements we can offer a nursing home. Inspection grades account for a host of factors found on a nursing home's inspection reports. One of the most important criteria we weigh heavily is the number and severity of deficiencies. Nursing homes with better grades in this category tend to have few of these severe deficiencies. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A

On the list of its many elite scores, this nursing home was given first-rate long-term care score. In fact, it received a grade of A in this area. Facilities that receive this type of grade in this category tend to provide consistent 24/7 care to make sure residents are well cared for. Once we looked at the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we then looked at the facility's vaccination data. This nursing home vaccinated 100 percent of its residents for pneumonia, which is significantly higher than the majority of nursing homes. Finally, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had only 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A

We also wanted to emphasize the fact that this facility received an impressive grade of A in our nursing category. The nursing grade analyzes several components, most of which are associated with quantities of nurse staffing. This nursing home averages 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at several nursing quality-based metrics and this place excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any nursing home Wisconsin in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can many times be avoided by providing better nursing care, such as by employing a protocol of turning a resident even once per day.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

In our last area, this facility also was awarded an impressive short-term care rating, with a B+. This rounded out an elite profile. Short-term care grades are critical for prospective residents in need of rehabilitation. Rehabilitation generally utilizes higher levels of highly-skilled nursing. Skilled nursing means a vast spectrum of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not all nursing homes employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, based on the information they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Finally, we assessed the percentage of patients that eventually returned home from this nursing home. We found that 0 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.
