Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

One of the reasons this ended up being a quality nursing home is that it earned an A+ in our inspections category. This is as good as it gets in this very important area. Arguably the most important factor we consider in determining our inspection ratings is deficiencies. These deficiencies can be found on a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places with better grades in this category most likely dodged the most severe deficiencies involving things like patient abuse. Unfortunately, we were not able to track down deficiency counts for this nursing home. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

To add to its high-end accomplishments in other areas, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A- for its long-term care score. Nursing homes that receive this type of score in this category typically provide consistent around the clock care to make sure residents are kept in good health. This facility clearly performed favorably enough in these measures to earn an impressive score in this category.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-plus

In addition, this facility also received favorable nursing grades this year. In fact, we awarded them one of our better scores in that area, with a grade of B+. Our nursing grade includes many subcategories. The most important factor is the quantity of hours nurses spent with patients. This facility provided 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at several nursing quality-based metrics and this nursing home excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any place the state in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can frequently be avoided by offering better nursing care, such as by having a protocol of moving patients even once per day.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B

The next category we analyzed was short-term care. In that area, we awarded this nursing home an impressive grade of B. In our short-term care assessment, we strive to forge a fair barometer for rehabilitation. In doing so, we assess a facility's levels of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as occupational therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not all nursing homes employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, based on the data they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Finally, we assessed the number of patients that eventually returned home from this facility. We found that 0 percent of this facility's patients returned home.
