Facility Inspections

Grade: B-minus

Although we did not have many positive things to say about this facility's overall score, it earned a respectable government inspection report this year. It received a decent grade in that area with a B-. Inspection grades weigh several factors, including deficiencies and substantiated complaints. You can find more information about each of these items by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This place received 2 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none were considered to be severe deficiencies. This indicates that the government inspectors didn't deem any of these deficiencies to create an immediate risk to patient safety or health. Lastly, this facility was flagged by CMS for possible abuse or neglect. We prefer to avoid facilities with this designation. Please do your best to find an alternative nursing home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: C

This facilities second best area is long-term care. We gave it a grade of C in this area. This is essentially a slightly below average grade in this area. In a long-term care setting, the nursing home's primary goal is to maintain patients' quality of life and keep them safe. After considering the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we then looked at the nursing home's vaccination data. We were somewhat surprised to discover that this nursing home vaccinated a relatively low 74.13127 percent of its residents against pneumonia. Fortunately, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Nurse Quality

Grade: C

This nursing home actually received a decent grade in the area of nursing as well. We awarded it a grade of C for that category, which is not a bad score. There are numerous factors included in this category. Most of the factors reflect nurse staffing. This place provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient per day. This is a lower figure than we were hoping for. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this facility excelled in some of the quality measures we assessed. In fact, it scored well when it comes to avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: D

The final area we assessed was short-term care, which is a low point for this facility. We awarded this facility a grade of D for our short-term care category. With our short-term care category, we try to craft a fair barometer for rehabilitation services. In doing so, we analyze the nursing home's level of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as respiratory therapy. Not surprisingly, we learned that this facility provides significantly less registered nurse and physical therapist hours per patient than a typical facility. The final item we considered in this area is the percentage of patients who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We discovered that just 4.7 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home, which is well below average. The combination of these poor metrics doomed this nursing home's short-term care score.
