Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

One of the reasons this place ended up being a great nursing home is that it received an A+ inspection grade. This is just about as good as it gets in this category. Our inspection scores account for several factors included in a nursing home's inspection reports. One key criteria we look at is the number and severity of deficiencies. Places with better scores in this area usually have few of these severe deficiencies. This nursing home was hit with 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none of the deficiencies were considered severe. This indicates that CMS did not consider any of these deficiencies an imminent threat to resident safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

Adding to its impressive resume, this facility also excelled in our short-term care category. In fact, we awarded it a grade of A- in the area. In our short-term care category, we strive to forge a fair measure for rehabilitation services. In this process, we assess the nursing home's levels of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as speech therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not every nursing home employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, based on the information they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Finally, we assessed the number of patients who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 5.7 percent of this facility's patients returned home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

The third area we analyzed is long-term care. Contributing to its impressive resume, this nursing home also performed well in this area. In fact, it received a grade of of A- in that category. Long-term care grades of this caliber generally require both around the clock care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine medical care. On top of looking at the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility vaccinated 64.08451 percent of its residents. This is a few points below what we anticipated but still a reasonably acceptable figure. While its vaccination rate was a bit lower than we hoped for, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-plus

The fourth area we assessed was nursing, where this nursing home was given a grade of B+. This finished off a very favorable report card. Not many nursing homes earned a B+ or better in every category. Nursing grades are based largely on levels of nurse staffing. This facility provided 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also looked at certain nursing quality-based metrics in computing our nursing grades. These include minimizing residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We look at these metrics as good measures of the caliber of nursing care being provided, since better care tends to reduce these problems.
