Nurse Quality

Grade: A-plus

We also wanted to emphasize the fact that this facility excelled in our nursing rating. We awarded them an impressive grade of A+ in this category. Nursing scores are tied to quality and quantity of nursing care. This nursing home averages 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This facility performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a place has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can many times be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Facility Inspections

Grade: A

In addition, this nursing home also received a nearly flawless inspection report. As a result, it received one of our highest grades in that area with an A. Our inspection scores weigh a host of factors included in a nursing home's inspection reports. One of the most important criteria we consider is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Nursing homes with higher grades in this category generally have very few of these severe deficiencies. This place received 4 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe deficiencies. This indicates that CMS didn't consider any of the deficiencies to create an imminent threat to resident health or safety. We should point out that deficiency-free inspections are uncommon in the industry.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

The next category we assessed is long-term care. This facility was given an above average long-term care score, with a grade of B+ in the category. When nursing homes receive a grade in this range in this category it generally means it's well-staffed and is an overall good place to reside on a permanent basis. After we finished assessing the volume of care provided by nurses, we then looked at the nursing home's vaccination statistics. This facility vaccinated 100 percent of its residents for pneumonia, which is what we like to see. Pneumonia is too frequently a life or death health condition for nursing home patients so we strongly prefer when a nursing home does not take any chances. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B

The next category we rated is short-term care. This facility was awarded an above average nursing score in our assessment, with a B. While this is not as elite as a few of its other category grades, this is nevertheless one of the more favorable grades for this category. In computing our short-term care ratings, we look at a nursing home's levels of highly skilled nursing services, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists speech therapists and other highly skilled individuals. This grade is typically a reliable measure of the facility's rehabilitation. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not all nursing homes employs these types of nurses. However, according to the information they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Lastly, we assessed the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 0 percent of this facility's residents returned home.
