Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

One of the many reasons this turned out to be a quality nursing home is that it received an A+ inspection grade. This is simply as good as it gets in this critical category. Inspection ratings account for a host of factors included in a nursing home's inspection reports. One of the most important criteria we weigh heavily is the number and severity of deficiencies. Nursing homes with better grades in this category usually have very few of these severe deficiencies. While this facility had a few deficiencies on its government inspection report, none were serious based on CMS' deficiency scale. The fact that the deficiencies were relatively minor made us feel better about this inspection report.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A

Adding to its impressive resume, this nursing home also excelled in our nursing category. In fact, we awarded it a grade of A for that category. Our nursing score is largely tied to a facility's nurse staffing. This particular nursing home provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This nursing home performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a place has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can frequently be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

The third area we assessed is short-term care. Adding to its superb resume, this facility also excelled in that area. In fact, it received a of A- for the category. In the area of short-term care, we attempt to assess indicators of a nursing home's rehabilitation. We analyze a nursing home's skilled nursing services, including the ones performed by registered nurses and physical therapists. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not all nursing homes employs these types of nurses. However, based on the data they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Lastly, we looked at the number of residents who were able to return home from this nursing home. We found that 0 percent of this nursing home's residents were able to return home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

Switching gears to our final area, this facility was awarded a strong long-term care rating. We awarded it a grade of B+ in that area, rounding out one of our more impressive profiles. Nursing homes that excel in long-term care tend to provide patients with better supervision and stay on top of routine medical care. After we finished assessing the volume of nursing care, we then looked at the facility's vaccination record. This nursing home vaccinated 100 percent of its patients against pneumonia, which is an impressive figure. Pneumonia sadly is often a life threatening illness for nursing home residents so we like it when a facility doesn't leave its residents vulnerable. Finally, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
