Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

This facility received a favorable short-term care rating this year. We gave them a strong grade in that category, with a B+. In the category of short-term care, we endeavor to qualify measures of a facility's rehabilitation. We assess the facility's skilled nursing services, including the ones performed by registered nurses and physical and occupational therapists. It does not appear that this facility provided data regarding its registered nurse or physical therapy staffing. The final item we looked at in this category is the percentage of residents that were able to return home from the nursing home. We found that 6 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home as opposed to remaining at the facility on a permanent basis.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-plus

One of the other reasons we rated this facility so highly is that it received a very impressive nursing grade. Nursing proved to be its second best category grade. In that area, we gave this nursing home an B+. We analyzed the levels of nurses employed by the facility, as well as the quantity of time the nurses were with patients, in calculating our grade in this category. This particular nursing home provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This facility performed very well when it comes to avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: D

We awarded this nursing home a grade of just D for our long-term care grade. This is not a score to write home about. In a long-term care setting, the primary objective is to keep patients as healthy and safe as possible. This is different than skilled nursing or short-term care where the goal is to rehabilitate patients. One of the statistics we considered in addition to nurse's aid hours is vaccines. Thankfully, this facility provided the pneumonia vaccination to 99.64029 percent of its residents. To our surprise, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this facility has fewer hospitalizations than most nursing homes. Sadly, some of its other scores in the category were not as favorable as these.

Facility Inspections

Grade: F

Moving on our last category of inspections, this facility received a grade that's as bad as it gets. With an F in the inspection category, this facility's overall grade was adversely affected. When a place has this poor of an inspection grade, you should expect some severe deficiencies on its inspection report. Severe deficiencies indicate a risk to resident safety. This particular facility had 2 deficiencies on its inspection report. The only favorable thing we can say is that none of these deficiencies were in the categories that indicate that they posed a risk to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility also received 34 substantiated complaints in recent years. This is yet another bad sign.
