Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B

While we did not rate this nursing home favorably overall, we want to draw your attention to its relatively favorable short-term care rating. We gave it a B in this area. With our short-term care grade, we attempt to forge a sound measure for rehabilitation. In this process, we look at a facility's offerings of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as occupational therapy. Unfortunately, we weren't able to locate registered nurse or physical therapy staffing data for this facility. Lastly, we assessed the percentage of residents who ultimately returned home from this facility. We found that 5.2 percent of this nursing home's patients were able to return home.

Facility Inspections

Grade: C

This facility earned a C for our inspections category. This was certainly a notch above its other category grades. Our inspection scores account for a host of factors included in a nursing home's inspection report. One key criteria we look at is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. This nursing home was hit with 5 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to find that none were in categories G through L. This indicates that it avoided the more ominous categories of deficiencies. Unfortunately, we also need to draw your attention to the fact that this facility received significant government fines in recent years.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: C

The next area we graded was long-term care, where this facility was given a grade of C in this area. Our long-term care ratings are based in part on the facility's volume of nursing care. This means a vast range of personal care services, ranging from assistance with activities of daily living to routine healthcare services. One of the statistics we considered in addition to nursing hours is vaccines. This nursing home provided the pneumonia vaccine to 92.03297 percent of its residents. Nevertheless, this facility keeps its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Nurse Quality

Grade: D

This nursing home's weakest category is nursing, which is the last area we assessed. For this area, we awarded this facility a grade of D. In computing our nursing scores, we factor in both staffing levels and the training levels of the nurses. With a meager 0.4 hours of nursing care per patient on a daily basis, this place's nurse staffing levels were well below average. To go along with its low totals in the area of nursing hours per patient, this place also did not perform as well in the quality-based measures we looked at in determining our nursing grades. We looked at the percentage of residents sustaining major falls and pressure ulcers. This place had more pressure ulcers and falls than the average facility.
