Facility Inspections

Grade: A

In addition to being a first rate nursing home overall, it also performed well in inspections, where it earned an A. Few nursing homes performed better in this category. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in calculating these inspection scores. One of those factors is deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of deficiencies is arguably more important than the number of deficiencies, as some end up being quite minor. This place received 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none of the deficiencies were considered to be major deficiencies. This tells you that the inspectors did not deem any of the deficiencies an imminent risk to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

Adding to its top-shelf resume, this facility also was awarded a strong long-term care grade, with a score of A-. Facilities that excel in long-term care typically are well-staffed and offer extensive hands on care to patients. One of the factors we considered after nursing hours was vaccinations. This facility provided the pneumonia vaccine to 100 percent of its residents. This is a great way to minimize unnecessary hospitalizations for the aged 65 and up population. Lastly, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

In addition, this facility also received favorable short-term care scores in our assessment. Indeed, we gave them one of our stronger grades in that category, with a score of B+. Short-term care scores are vital for individuals seeking rehabilitation. Rehabilitation typically mandates additional highly-skilled nursing services. This includes a broad spectrum of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. It does not look like this facility submitted data regarding its registered nurse or physical therapy staffing. The final statistic we considered in this area is the percentage of residents who were able to leave the facility and return home. We found that 0 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B

The final area we assessed was nursing. This facility received a strong nursing score this year, with a grade of B. While this wasn't as good as some of its other grades, this is nevertheless one of the stronger grades in this category. There are numerous criteria included in this grade. Many of the data points are tied to the quantity of nurse staffing. This nursing home averages 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This place performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a facility has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can typically be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.
