Facility Inspections

Grade: B

Although we gave this nursing home a terrible overall grade, we awarded it a B for our inspections rating. This was due to the nursing home receiving a quality government inspection report this year. Perhaps the most significant factor we look at in computing our inspection scores is deficiencies. Deficiencies are found on a facility's recent inspection reports. It is typically best to avoid nursing homes that have a long list of deficiencies. While this facility had some minor dings on its inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are those found in categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This tells you that the government inspectors did not consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. A couple minor deficiencies are not the end of the world.

Nurse Quality

Grade: D

We gave this facility a grade of just D for our nursing rating and that actually turned out to be its second highest score. Our nursing rating is mostly based on a nursing home's nurse staffing. This place averaged only 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident daily. This is not a very impressive figure. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in computing our nursing grades. This place performed well in the area of avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these statistics to be reliable indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: D

This nursing home's second least favorable score is short-term care, where it earned just a D in that category. This is a relatively poor grade. In determining our short-term care ratings, we assess the nursing home's levels of skilled nursing services, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists occupational therapists and other licensed professionals. This rating is generally a solid measure of the facility's rehabilitation. Given its score in this area, we weren't stunned to find that this place was well below average in terms of the number of physical therapy and registered nurse hours offered to its patients based on the metrics we looked at. Lastly, we considered the number of residents who eventually returned home from this facility. This nursing home didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 0 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was quite a bit off the national average.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: F

The last area we analyzed is long-term care. It received an F for this category, which is an abysmal score. When nursing homes receive a score in this range in long-term care it generally means the facility did not perform well in our measures relating to patient care. In addition to assessing the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility gave the vaccine to 72.95597 percent of its patients. This is several points less than the national average. To our surprise, this nursing home actually fared well at keeping its residents out of the hospital. It had just 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. This is its best score in this category.
