Facility Inspections

Grade: B-minus

While this nursing home's overall score is not a highlight, it actually received a slightly more favorable grade in the area of inspections. We awarded it a B- for this area, which is a decent score. Our inspection scores are based on many datapoints located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are an important item to look for on these reports. Severe deficiencies indicate a threat to the well being of residents. Amazingly, this was one of the few nursing homes in the country that had no deficiencies whatsoever on its inspection report. This is very impressive. Lastly, this facility was flagged by CMS for possible abuse or neglect. We prefer to avoid facilities with this designation. Please do your best to find an alternative nursing home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

The second highest category we awarded this facility in any category came in the category of long-term care, where we awarded it a grade of B-. Our long-term care grade assesses a facility's personal care instead of the highly skilled therapy and healthcare services that are critical to a rehabilitation facility. In addition to assessing the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility provided the vaccine to 98.113205 percent of its patients. Lastly, this facility was also able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had only 0.03 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: C

This facilities third most favorable area was short-term care. We awarded it a C in this category. This is essentially a middle of the road score in this category. In forming our short-term care ratings, we assess the nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, speech therapists, physical therapists and other types of therapists. Our goal is to devise a tool for sizing up the rehabilitation services of nursing homes. Unfortunately, this place was below average in terms of its number of physical therapy and registered nurse hours provided to its patients based on the metrics we assessed. Lastly, we considered the number of patients who eventually returned home from this nursing home. We found that 0 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was actually quite a bit below average.

Nurse Quality

Grade: D

This facility's weakest category was nursing, which is the final category we assessed. For this area, we awarded this facility a grade of just D. Our nursing score assesses the nursing home's nurse staffing levels. We factor in both the levels of skill of those nurses and the amount of time spent with residents. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. In addition to its subpar nursing hours, this facility also received poor marks in many of the quality-based metrics we looked at in determining our nursing scores. We found that a higher percentage of this place's patients experienced falls which led to serious injury.
