Facility Inspections

Grade: B-plus

On top of receiving a favorable overall grade, this nursing home also earned a strong inspection grade, which is associated with the facility's recent government inspections. In fact, we awarded it a B+ in this category. Our inspection scores are tied to datapoints located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places that score well in this category have very few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these nursing homes generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Even some of the best nursing homes receive an occasional ding on their inspection report.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B

An additional quality feature for this facility is that it was awarded a very positive short-term care score. In fact, this ended up being its second best category score. In that area, we awarded this nursing home a B. In our short-term care score, we try to craft a valuable barometer for rehabilitation. In this process, we look at a nursing home's level of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as respiratory therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not every facility employs these skilled professionals. However, based on the data this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The final item we considered in this area is the number of residents who were able to leave the nursing home and return home. We found that 5.2 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B

This nursing home also received a strong nursing score. In fact, we awarded it an above average grade of B in this area. Nursing grades are based in large part on quality and quantity of nursing care. This facility provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This place performed very well in terms of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B

The next category we analyzed was long-term care, in which we awarded it a strong grade of B. This facility really didn't have any weak spots. Nursing homes that receive this kind of grade in long-term care typically provide consistent 24/7 care to ensure patients are well cared for. In addition to considering the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home vaccinated 100 percent of its residents, which is very impressive. Pneumonia can be a dangerous illness for nursing home residents so we like it when a nursing home doesn't take any chances. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
