Facility Inspections

Grade: B-minus

Although we gave this facility a terrible overall grade, we awarded it a B- for our inspections rating. In fact, the facility received very impressive inspection report this year. Our inspection scores account for a host of factors found on a nursing home's inspection report. One key criteria we look at is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Although this nursing home had a few deficiencies on its inspection report, none were serious based on CMS' deficiency scale. A few minor deficiencies are not the end of the world.

Nurse Quality

Grade: D

Unfortunately, this facility only received a grade of D for its nursing grade, which was actually one of its better category grades. Nursing ratings are based largely on quantity of nursing care available. This particular place averaged a meager 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient per day. This statistic is well below the national average. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in calculating our nursing scores. This place fared well in the area of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: D

We gave this facility a grade of just D for our short-term care score. This is not a very good score. Short-term care grades are meaningful for prospective residents seeking rehabilitation. Rehabilitation generally requires additional skilled nursing. Skilled nursing means a broad spectrum of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, as well as other types of therapy. With a grade of this caliber for this area, we weren't shocked to discover this nursing home was well below average in the two key staffing figures we assess. In fact, it offered far fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most other facilities. Lastly, we assessed the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. This definitely wasn't a strength for this facility. We found that just 4.4 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home. At most nursing homes, around half of their patients are able to return home so this is well below average.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: F

The next category we looked at is long-term care, in which this facility received a bottom of the barrel grade here also. It received an abysmal F for this category, which is definitely somewhat alarming. Nursing homes that do not fare well in this category typically are not as well-staffed and are lagging in a few of the areas of routine personal care we assessed. Once we assessed the quantity of nursing care, we next considered the facility's vaccination record. We were a bit bothered by the fact that this facility vaccinated only 83.185844 percent of its residents against pneumonia. Surprisingly, this nursing home was actually decent at keeping its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. This is its best score in this category.
