Facility Inspections

Grade: B

In addition to having a decent overall score, we also wanted to point out that this place earned favorable government inspections in recent years. We awarded it one of our better scores in this category, with a B. This is a notably better grade than the facility's overall score. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in computing our inspection ratings. One key factor is deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of deficiencies is arguably more important than the quantity of deficiencies, as some deficiencies are quite insignificant. This particular nursing home received 4 deficiencies on its inspection report. Overall, this is still a solid inspection report, but we'd always recommend looking into any deficiencies you find troubling.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-minus

This facility performed well in our nursing category. We awarded it a grade of B- for that category, which is one of our highest scores. Nursing ratings are mostly associated with the nursing home's nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this facility actually excelled in some of the quality measures we looked at. In fact, it scored well in the area of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be reliable indicators of the quality of nursing care. In many cases, the quality of nursing care is as important as the quantity of hours of care offered.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: C

This nursing home received its third best category score in the area of short-term care. We awarded this facility a C in this area, which is a respectable score. In our short-term care category, we attempt to create a valuable gauge for rehabilitation services. In doing so, we analyze a facility's scope of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as speech therapy. Unfortunately, we found that this facility provided fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most other facilities. Finally, we assessed the percentage of patients that ultimately were able to return home from this nursing home. We found that 4.9 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home. This figure was quite a bit below the national average.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: C

Turning to the last area, this nursing home was given a decent long-term care grade of C. For residents in need of a permanent residence rather than rehabilitation, long-term care is an important category. On top of assessing the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home gave the vaccine to 86.23025 percent of its residents. This is significantly less than what we were hoping for. Nevertheless, this facility keeps its residents out of the hospital. It had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
