Facility Inspections

Grade: A

To go along with its strong overall grade, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A for our inspections rating. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in determining our inspection grades. One of those factors is health deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of the deficiencies is arguably more meaningful than the number of deficiencies, as some of these can be relatively minor. We weren't able to track down deficiency counts for this nursing home. We wish we had more information about this nursing home. Without having access to complete information regarding deficiencies, it is challenging to grade the place in the area of inspections.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A

This facility performed well in the area of short-term care. As a result, we gave it a score of A for that category, which is one of our higher scores. Short-term care grades are often employed to grade a facility's performance with rehabilitation. To have highly scored rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally need to provide higher levels of highly skilled nursing. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists and other highly skilled individuals. Fortunately, it looks like this facility employs registered nurses. Not every nursing home employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, based on the information they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Lastly, we assessed the percentage of residents that returned home from this nursing home. We found that 6.8 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B

This facility was awarded an impressive long-term care grade as well. We gave it one of our better grades in that area with a score of B. Facilities that excel in long-term care tend to provide residents with more supervision and stay on top of routine healthcare services. On top of considering the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility administered the vaccine to 100 percent of its patients, which is very impressive. Pneumonia can be a dangerous ailment for nursing home residents so we strongly prefer when a facility does not leave this to chance. Finally, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had only 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-minus

The final area we looked at is nursing. We awarded this nursing home a decent score in this area, with a grade of B-. Even though this wasn't as strong as many of this facility's other grades, it is still nothing to be ashamed of. In determining a nursing home's nursing grade, we weigh the quantity of hours nurses spend with patients and the skill levels of those nurses. This nursing home averages just 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low figure. Finally, we look at quality-based metrics, such as the percentage of residents who sustained pressure ulcers and major falls. Sometimes these statistics are decent indicators of the quality of nursing care.
