Nurse Quality

Grade: A-plus

In addition to receiving a great overall grade, this nursing home received an A+ for nursing. Our nursing rating analyzes several factors, but the main consideration is the quantity of nurse hours spent with patients. This facility provided 0.6 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed several nursing quality-based metrics and this place excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any facility the nation in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can frequently be avoided by offering better nursing care, such as by employing a policy of turning residents at least once a day.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A

This nursing home also was dominant in the area of short-term care, where we gave it a grade of A. Not many nursing homes fared better in this category. Our short-term care grades are considered to be more critical for folks requiring rehabilitation from their nursing home. Rehabilitation usually mandates higher levels of highly-skilled nursing. This means not merely nursing, but also physical and respiratory therapy, as well as other variations of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not all nursing homes employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, according to the data this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Finally, we looked at the percentage of residents that were able to return home from this facility. We found that 6.6 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A

We also wanted to emphasize the fact that this nursing home was awarded a high-end score of A in our long-term care area. When nursing homes receive a grade in this range in this category it typically means it's well-staffed and is a quality place to live on a permanent basis. On top of assessing the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility gave the vaccine to 96.92308 percent of its patients, which is an impressive figure. Pneumonia sadly is often a dangerous illness for nursing home residents so we like it when a nursing home does not take any chances. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. It had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Facility Inspections

Grade: A

Wrapping up this facility's impressive resume, we awarded this facility an impressive grade of A for our inspections rating. With this score, the facility completes its straight A report card. These inspection grades weigh several factors, including deficiencies and substantiated complaints. You can learn more about each of these factors by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. Fortunately, although this facility had some minor dings on its report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones labeled as categories G through L. This tells you that the inspectors did not deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
