Nurse Quality

Grade: A-plus

One of the many reasons this turned out to be a great nursing home is that it received an A+ nursing grade. This is simply as good as it gets in this category. Our nursing grade is mostly based on a nursing home's nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.6 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This place performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a place has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can often be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-plus

This facility also was given an A+ long-term care grade, making it one of the few nursing homes to receive multiple A+ category scores. When nursing homes receive this kind of grade in this category it is usually a good sign for resident care and suggests that the place is well-staffed with nurses aids. On top of looking at the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home administered the vaccine to 100 percent of its residents, which is much higher than most nursing homes. Lastly, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Facility Inspections

Grade: A

This facility has received near flawless health inspections in recent years. We awarded them an impressive grade of A in this category. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in computing these inspection grades. One key factor is deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of the deficiencies is usually more meaningful than the quantity of deficiencies, as some can be quite insignificant. Unfortunately, we weren't able to find information about this nursing home's deficiencies. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

Moving on to the last area, this nursing home also performed admirably in the short-term care category. In fact, we awarded it an A- for this category. This wrapped up a straight A report card. Our short-term care grade is often employed to grade a facility's performance with rehabilitation. In order to offer high-end rehabilitation services, facilities generally need to have higher levels of highly skilled nursing. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists and other licensed professionals. Fortunately, it looks like this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not every facility employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, based on the data they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The final item we looked at in this category is the percentage of residents who were able to leave the facility and return to the community. We discovered that 0 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.
