Nurse Quality

Grade: A-plus

This nursing home received a solid overall grade as described above, but it really excelled in nursing care, with an impressive grade of A+ in this category. In computing our nursing scores, we weigh both staffing levels and the skill levels of those nurses. This nursing home provides 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This nursing home performed very well when it comes to minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

In addition, we also wanted to draw your attention to the fact that this nursing home received strong short-term care marks in this assessment. We gave them one of our higher scores in this area, with a B+. This proved to be the nursing home's second best grade. In the category of short-term care, we attempt to assess indicators of a facility's rehabilitation services. We analyze the facility's skilled nursing services, such as the ones performed by registered nurses and physical therapists. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not all facilities employs these skilled professionals. However, based on the data this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The last item we assessed in this category is the percentage of residents who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We found that 0 percent of this nursing home's patients were able to return home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

The third category we looked at is long-term care. In that category, we awarded this facility a solid grade of B-. In a long-term care setting, the primary objective is to keep patients as healthy and safe as possible. This is different than skilled nursing or short-term care where the goal is to rehabilitate residents. After assessing the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we next considered the facility's vaccination statistics. This facility vaccinated 95.833336 percent of its patients against pneumonia, which is better than the majority of nursing homes. Lastly, this place was also able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Facility Inspections

Grade: D

Turning the last category of inspections, this ended up being this nursing home's weakest link. Inspection grades are based on a facility's recent government inspection reports. We gave this facility a D in this category, which is a very poor grade. One of the more critical factors in assessing inspection reports is deficiencies. We suggest you pay close attention to the level of severity of the deficiencies. This particular facility was assessed 6 deficiencies by government inspectors. The only favorable thing we can say is that none of its deficiencies were in the categories that suggest that they posed a risk to resident health or safety. Lastly, we also need to point out that this facility received large government fines recently of over $100,000. This often means that a poor track record has been an issue for several years.
