Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-plus

To pair with its strong overall grade, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A+ for its nursing grade. Our short-term care grades are important for patients in need of rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually requires more skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing means a broad range of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, as well as other forms of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not every facility employs these skilled professionals. However, according to the data they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The last item we assessed in this category is the percentage of patients who returned home from the facility. We found that 6.6 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home as opposed to remaining at the nursing home on a permanent basis.

Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

This facility also received a nearly flawless government inspection. As a result, it received one of our highest grades in that category with an A+. This is one of the few nursing homes to receive multiple A+'s. Perhaps the most significant factor we look at in computing our inspection grades is deficiencies. These deficiencies are found on a nursing home's inspection reports. Nursing homes with better grades in this category typically avoided the more severe deficiencies involving patient abuse or death. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A

This facility also excelled in the area of nursing, where it received a grade of A. Few nursing homes performed better in this area. In calculating our nursing ratings, we analyze both the number of hours nurses spend with residents and the skill levels of the nurses. This nursing home averages 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This facility performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a facility has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can typically be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A

Turning to our fourth category, this nursing home received a very strong long-term care grade. In fact, we awarded it a grade of A in that category, resulting in this facility receiving straight A's. Long-term care ratings of this caliber generally require both 24/7 care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine medical care. On top of considering the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home vaccinated 98.2699 percent of its patients. Vaccines are critical to keeping residents healthy. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.
