Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

To pair with its decent overall score, we awarded this nursing home an A+ for our inspections rating. This is far better than its overall grade. Perhaps the most important factor we consider in computing our inspection grades is deficiencies. Deficiencies are found on a nursing home's inspection reports. Nursing homes with higher scores in this category most likely dodged the most severe deficiencies involving health risks or even death. This particular nursing home received 5 deficiencies on its inspection report. Overall, this is still a solid inspection report, but we'd always recommend looking into any deficiencies you find troubling.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: C

This nursing home's next highest category ended up being its short-term care score, where it was given a grade of C. Short-term care scores are critical for residents requiring rehabilitation. Rehabilitation generally requires more highly-skilled nursing. Skilled nursing means a broad spectrum of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. We found that this place was below average in the two key staffing areas we looked at. The facility provided fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most other nursing homes. It is still important to determine whether this also correlates to a lower quality of care. Finally, we considered the percentage of patients that who were able to eventually return home from this facility. We found that 5.1 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was quite a bit below average.

Nurse Quality

Grade: D

Another strength of this nursing home is its favorable grade in nursing. We gave them one of our better scores in that area, with a score of D. There are a host of datapoints included in this grade. Many of these subcategories relate to levels of nurse staffing. This facility offered only 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident each day. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in computing our nursing grades. This nursing home fared well when it comes to avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. Many consider these metrics to be indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: D

The last category we graded is long-term care, is this nursing home's least impressive area. We awarded this facility a grade of D in that category. Long-term care scores in this range generally are a bad sign for the quantity and quality of care provided by nurses and aids, as well as the levels of routine medical care available. One of the criteria we considered in addition to nurse's aid hours is vaccines. This nursing home administered the pneumonia vaccine to 92.36453 percent of its patients. Surprisingly, this nursing home actually fared well at keeping its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. This is its best feature in this category.
