Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

On top of being an elite nursing home overall, this nursing home also excelled in our inspections category, where it received an A+. Very few facilities fared this well in this area. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in calculating these inspection grades. One key factor is health deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of the deficiencies is usually more meaningful than the number of deficiencies, as some end up being quite insignificant. While this facility had a few minor dings on its report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are those labeled as categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This tells you the government inspectors didn't deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-plus

This facility also was given an A+ for its long-term care grade. Nursing homes that do well in long-term care typically provide residents with more supervision and stay on top of routine healthcare services. In addition to considering the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home gave the vaccine to 100 percent of its patients. Vaccines are vital to keeping residents healthy. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A-minus

To complement its strong performance in other areas, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A+ for our inspections rating. The nursing rating consists of quite a few components, however, the primary consideration is the level of nurse hours per patient per week. This nursing home provides 0 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This place performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a nursing home has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can many times be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

Switching gears to our last area, this facility received an excellent short-term care score. We gave it an A- in that area, resulting in this facility receiving straight A's. In our short-term care assessment, we attempt to forge a sound measure for rehabilitation. In doing so, we assess the nursing home's levels of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as speech therapy. Unfortunately, we were not able to find information about this nursing home's registered nurse or physical therapy staffing. The final metric we looked at in this category is the percentage of patients who were able to leave the facility and return to the community. We discovered that 0 percent of this facility's residents returned home.
