Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

In addition to being a first rate facility overall, this facility performed well in our inspections category, where it earned an A+. Few facilities fared as well in this category. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in determining these inspection ratings. One key factor is deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of these deficiencies is usually more important than the quantity of deficiencies, as some of these are quite insignificant. This facility received 4 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none were considered severe. This indicates that the government inspectors did not deem any of the deficiencies to be an imminent threat to resident health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A

To add to its impressive assessments in other areas, we gave this facility a grade of A for its long-term care score. In a long-term care setting, the nursing home's primary goal is to keep patients healthy and safe. This is different than skilled nursing or short-term care where the goal is to rehabilitate patients. This facility really impressed us in this area.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A

Adding to its strong resume, this facility also received an excellent nursing score, with a grade of A. The nursing rating is based on quite a few subcategories, however, the paramount consideration is the quantity of nurse hours per patient per week. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at several nursing quality measures and this place excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any facility the state in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can many times be prevented by offering better nursing care, such as by having a protocol of moving residents even once per day.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

The fourth area we scored was short-term care, where this nursing home was given an A-. This wrapped up a first-rate profile. Not many facilities received an A- or higher in each of our categories. In the category of short-term care, we attempt to evaluate measures of a facility's rehabilitation. We look at a nursing home's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses and physical and occupational therapists. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not all facilities employs these types of nurses. However, according to the information they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Finally, we assessed the percentage of patients that ultimately were able to return home from this nursing home. We found that 0 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.
